A HISTORY OF ANTI STATIC FILM In the mid 60's an Apollo Command Module blew up on the ground at Cape Kennedy and killed the three Astronauts within, and injured many others and destroyed the space lab. The spark that caused the ignition resulting in the fatal accident reportedly could have been caused by a static discharge from polyethylene sheeting used as a dust cover as it was being unrolled in the vicinity of the capsule. This accident is one of the factors that prompted the development of anti static film for government and commercial applications.

Gemini Plastics antistatic films either meet or exceed the surface resistivity and static decay rates as specified in Mil-B-81705 Type 2. We have been certified to Mil-B-81705-B Type 2 by the Department of the Navy since 1980. For ultra clean film and bags we use additive free virgin low density polyethylene and our amine free antistatic agent with color as an option.
